Hello! I’m Mocky Khan, your Labour candidate for the general election on July 4.
I’m standing for Didcot & Wantage because I’m a strong believer in Labour values, and have always tried to serve my community according to Labour principles. I was born in Bangladesh, and came to the UK with my family when I was a small child. We first lived in Hampton, Greater London, and I had a very tough but loving start to my life there: from an early age, I had to be the spokesperson and advocate for my parents.
In school and university, and when building my own businesses (I’m a chartered marketer, and have an interest in catering like my dad), I never stopped helping people deal with problems that were being ignored at local or national level. Ten years ago, I moved with my young family to Didcot. My voluntary work led to me to advising and working with local charities and schools, and to prominent roles on Didcot Town and South Oxfordshire District Councils.
Promoting and caring for the Didcot & Wantage community at the heart of a Labour government would be the greatest honour, and I would strive to reflect all your needs and hopes in parliament. I would also make use of my business experience to support the employers, the producers, the retailers, and the custodians of our natural environment, whether agriculturally-based, or in SMEs and more in Wallingford, Didcot and Wantage.
I’m a listener above all, and if you meet me and my team out campaigning, please say hello – but if you have yet to come across me, I’d love to hear from you via this website.
